Despite being cool.and upbeat (and she is) she also suffers from anxiety and recently started speaking about it in social media. Instagram posta detailing her inability to even go downstairs and how support her fam are etc. She also recently did a bbc documentary about anxiety disorders.
Nadiya is also a perfect example of why diversity in media is important. A government report on community cohesion said she’s done “more for British-Muslim relations than 10 years of government policy”, because her presence on TV has helped to humanize the image of the hijab-wearing Muslim woman in the eyes of the public.
She’s not even really a political activist or anything - she’s just a nice, honest, down-to-earth person. Sometimes that’s all it really takes to convince people.
I’m posting this multiple times today so everyone sees it, you should too.
Ok, but this post doesn’t say WHY it’s burning. This is no accident. A bunch of land speculators, big agro farmers, lumber & mining ops people, and similar types, instituted a “Day of Fire” where they all decided to burn down the forests at the same time, to “clear up” the terrain, sometimes for pasture or farming, sometimes for absolutely nothing because they don’t even know what to do with it yet, they just wanna sell it sometime maybe.
This was no accident. This was a purposeful, criminal action, sanctioned by Bolsonaro’s government, who’s been encouraging the destruction of the rainforest, persecuting activists, genociding indigenous people and defunding state and federal efforts to fiscalize and combat this kind of criminal activity.
There’s not enough punishment in the world for these people, nor for the people who voted for this piece of shit. You are all guilty. Fuck you.
That’s Louis Rossman, a repair technician and YouTuber, who went viral recently for railing against Apple. Apple purposely charges a lot for repairs and you either have to pay up or buy a new device. That’s because Apple withholds necessary tools and information from outside repair shops. And to think, we were just so close to change.
The idea that, if Eleven and Matilda ever met they would be enemies or fight is totally ludicrous. Matilda would take one look in Eleven’s lost, angry eyes, and take her in. She’d be patient and thorough, teaching her new words every day, and they would share chocolates and roller skate and have regular kid fun. Matilda would show her board games but Eleven would insist on cards. They’d both cheat and see who was better at getting away with it. Eleven would teach Matilda how to move larger objects with her powers and be utterly fucking thrilled by the story of revenge on Ms. Trunchbull.
They would be thick as thieves and no one can convince me otherwise.
Matilda and eleven both had shit ass childhoods and the concept they’d fight is surreal
